CURRICULUM

In Grade 8 & Grade 9 Northside College follows a mainstream curriculum, as outlined by the Department of Education, and includes the key areas of:

  • English Home Language
  • Afrikaans First Additional Language
  • Mathematics
  • Life Orientation
  • Natural Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Economic Management Sciences
  • Arts and Culture
  • Technology

In Grades 10-12 a learner needs to take seven subjects which will lead to a matric qualification (National Senior Certificate). Northside College offers English, Afrikaans, Maths Literacy and Life Orientation which are compulsory subjects, and three choice subjects РBusiness Studies, Computer Applications Technology, History and Tourism.

Teacher-learner Ratio

The teacher-learner ratio is no more than 15:1, enabling the staff to focus on the individual learner. Progress is monitored on a regular basis and feedback given to parents and learners at parental contact meetings.

Extra-murals

Northside College learners have the privilege of joining Northcliff High School in their extra-mural activities. Many of our learners have given a good account of themselves contributing to an outstanding record of extra-mural excellence.
